Junior Product Industrialization Engineer
Apollo Tyres Global R&D BV Apollo Tyres is a tyre manufacturer with Indian roots. It’s an ambitious and growing company, with factories in India and Europe (Netherlands and Hungary) and sales offices all over the world. The whole process is done internally, from R&D and purchasing to sales and distribution.
One of the two Global R&D centers of Apollo Tyres is based in Enschede. Over 140 people work on the development of new passenger car tyres for the brands Apollo and Vredestein. With our products we serve both the replacement market (private customers) and the OE market (car manufacturers). Global Product Industrialization The Global PI department is responsible for industrialization of new products across all Apollo plants. This team plays an essential role by setting up the technical know-how, design guidelines, production processes and equipment in such a way that the tyre can be produced on an industrial level, while retaining the properties of the tyre like it was created by the development team. Being part of the Research & Development center, the global PI team works closely with the local PI teams in the plants. The position Global Product Industrialization consists of three pillars: Product Lifecycle Management, Process Development, and Product Industrialization. In this junior position the focus will be on Product Industrialization, although you will also learn about the other areas. During one year you will be prepared for a job as PI engineer. You will specialize yourself in the tyre building process and the prototype process. This means that you will support the plants with the industrialization of new tyre specifications, for example by maintaining tools and systems to translate design specifications into tyre building specifications. By spending a few months in the plant and working on several projects along an experienced PI engineer, you learn all the ins and outs of the job. Moreover you will follow a Tyre Technology course to enhance your knowledge about the tyres itself. During the year your performance in the various projects will be evaluated. Upon successful completion of the first year you can be offered an employment contract for a longer term.
Your profile To be successful in this position you take initiative and have an entrepreneurial spirit. You are eager to learn and open-minded towards new situations and cultures. Are you the person we are looking for? You can apply if you meet the following requirements: - You have recently graduated or will graduate before October 2018. You hold a Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar. Knowledge of or internship experience with chemical processes is an advantage; - You have good inter-personal and communication skills, so you can work cooperatively with both the R&D and the local P.I. teams; - You have a good knowledge of English in speaking and writing and you enjoy working in an international environment; - You are technically skilled and prefer a solution oriented way of working; - You are willing to work abroad for a few weeks or months, if it’s required by the project.
